Icy is Goshen's Fire N Ice. She was a Hoss double-granddaughter and one of the last dogs to come out of Goshen Akitas. Although we did not own Icy, she was in residence with us on two separate occassions and we fell in love with her. Icy's sire was "Colt" - Goshen's Wanna Be a Hoss (Hoss X Great Tiger's Contessa). Her dam was "Bebop" - Goshen's Maiden Voyage (Hoss X Windom's Stardust). Icy's large, doggy frame and people-loving temperament were the traits we loved most about her, and those same traits are evident in her grandkids and great-grandkids here at Solid Rock Akitas. Nearly every dog owned by Solid Rock goes back to either Icy or to her 3/4 sister, "Misty" - Goshen's Polar Mist (Murphy X Bebop). Since Icy was an inbred Hoss granddaughter, this allowed for her traits to be dominant through breedings and continue to be expressed several generations later.

Goshen's Polar Mist (Misty), was another great producing dog to come from the Goshen Kennels; and is another component in the pedigrees of several of the dogs here at Solid Rock Kennels. She was the half-sister to Icy through their mother Goshen's Maiden Voyage (Bebop), a Hoss daughter. Misty's sire was Murphy (Hoss grandson) and we have always been partial to Murphy kids - especially since he was the sire to the first champions produced by Solid Rock.
Misty was never owned by us, but she is not currently being profiled on any other sites and we wanted to acknowledge her contribution to the breed and to Solid Rock Akitas.
